What Are The Benefits Of Doing Eye Yoga?
Eye yoga is quite different from the asanas or poses. It is a set of relaxed exercises that benefit your eyes. These help to improve the flexibility of your eyes and also increase your focus. It, sort of, strengthen your vision and also helps to counter various eye disorders. Although these exercises cannot help diagnose or treat eye problems like glaucoma or cataract, it does prevent problems like blurry vision or such others.
Doing Eye Yoga The Right Way
Eye yoga is nothing but a set of a few eye exercises.
- Look up, down, left and right repeatedly. You just have to move your eyeballs with your head steady. You can pretend to look at the numbers of a clock in front of you. Repeat a few times and then look in the reverse direction.
- Squeeze your eyes shut and open several times. This helps to increase the moisture level in the eyes.
- Close your eyes and only move your eyeballs in a zig-zag motion. Look from left to right and then from right to left, while keeping your eyes shut. This is a very beneficial exercise for your eyes. You can also make your eyeballs travel from top to bottom of your eye sockets while still keeping them close.
- Blink your eyes rapidly for a few seconds. Then close them immediately and let your eyes relax for 20 seconds. This brings in more moisture in your eyes. Next, shut your eyes and look down as far as possible while still keeping your eyes closed. Then repeat this looking at the top, then to the left and then to the right. Now, reverse the direction and again start looking in all the directions with your eyes closed.
- Rub your hands rapidly to generate friction in your palms. Keep the warm palms over your eyes, while still closed. This helps to relax tired eyes. Hold on to this position until your palms feel normal again. Repeat a few times.
- Stare at an object at a distance of 20 feet from where you are sitting. Stare till the count of 20 seconds. Then blink 20 times and repeat. This 20-20-20 is a very useful exercise for the eyes.
